Patti Smith (covers Tinita) well worth going to Brussels for - oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATTI

I like to think I can be so willed
and never do what you say
I'll never hear you
and never do what you say

Look my eyes are just holograms
look your love has drawn red from my hands
from my hands you know you'll never be
more than a twist in my sobriety.

About last year ... cont'd ... Victoria Park - Nick Cave, Patti Smith, Shame ...

Had a lovely day out in Victoria Park in June. Weather

was perfect. Not too hot and didn't rain. I was told the beer was overpriced. Our picnic was perfect.
I went to see Patti Smith and she was her perfect poet self, acknowledging an Allen Ginsberg anniversary and saluting John Lennon.

But this band SHAME blew me away.
I loved them.
Was standing in a queue for chips later I think and turned round and who's walking right up to me as if to say hello but Charlie Steen himself.

Midsummer twilight and Nick Cave played an emotional set (mostly to the front six adoring rows who climbed on stage with him as the night got darker)

W72nd Street New York City

My favourite gigs 2018 - cont'd

A strange thing happened in the middle of the show... I became fully conscious of the fact that this voice, the voice of David Byrne,
has been with me my whole adult life and here I was ... I found myself in another part of the world, asking myself, how did I get here?
(Answer was National Coach only eight pounds, actually)
and i'll tell you this for sixpence...
CARDIFF KNOWS HOW TO ROCK

Martin Rev at Bowery Electric New York this time last year

FER-REEEEZING cold out ... 13 degrees C it was.
Came out the subway and passed Phoebe's Street art

and the Blondie Mural (Bobby Grossman's photo and Fairey Shepherd's design)

and crossed the street and down the rickety stairs of the Bowery Electric
and it was PACKED.
Puma Perl came out and David and Emil and Delphine Blue.
And it was SMOKING HOT because of Martin Rev - he was astonishing - just amazing - just so powerful - in his leather vest and shiny black pants and glasses and i don't know WHAT he's doing smacking and giving his synthesizer (?) a charlie horse and what the hell the box was on the top there with all those wires and bits and pieces ... but what he did just hoovered me to the front of the room and i was go-go girl
And this doesn't sound right  but I would never have got into Suicide so deep if it wasn't for Tim Broun So THANK YOU.
Martin Rev is force and I just admire the living daylight nightlight flashing lights of him

there's me dancing down the front

and then home to West 76th Street crossing Joey Ramone's Street sign on the way ...

Thinking of gigs I loved 2018... EXTNDDNTWRK Live at Cafe Oto - 19.10.2018

Andrew Fearn from the Sleaford Mods has a side project.
He played live in October with Alternative TV.
There is also a sound only clip here so you can hear the whole set.

ATV included rare performance of SCANDAL in their set.

Cafe Oto is a cool venue in Dalston, like a storefront.
at 18 Ashwin Street, London E8 3DL.
They have a bar and a merch table.

Always someone interesting - some well known bands, some well known musicians playing in side projects (like Andy Fearn here) and some bands just getting started.
Always a reasonable price, too.

Pete Shelley 17 April 1955 – 6 December 2018 RIP

He gave me permission to fall in love with someone I wasn't supposed to fall in love with ...

as someone else posted ... we were touched by his chords.
